I need to get started…

A problem I ran into during the fall cure and one that is already popped up again is that fact that I have ZERO time during the week to do cure-related things.  Okay, not really zero.  On two days I leave for work, go to school and do not get home until around 10:30.  Then I usually eat something and pass out.  The other two days I am recovering from school and vegging :)   I’m taking a pretty heavy courseload this semester so I think I deserve a few hours during the week to just chill.  Friday nights usually involve some sort of fun outside the apartment.  That leaves the weekend.  I’m totally fine with “curing” on the weekends but when I see two-three AT posts a week while I’m sitting on my butt at work I start to feel a bit lazy.  No more!  I will not get discouraged this time around.

That being said, I plan to start my week 1 items this weekend.

Oh! I almost forgot.  A friend and I went to an exhibit at the Museum of Arts & Design after work yesterday called “Pricked: Extreme Embroidery.”  It was very cool.  It also motivated me to start this project soon:

I think I want to try this pattern in shades of blues but I’m not positive yet.

oops! One more thing I almost forgot.  I bought these two prints last night from etsy seller berkleyillustration and I am super super excited to get them.  Maybe I will do my wall ‘o art in the living room after all?

first post!

When I first saw the Spring cure advertised on Apartment therapy I knew I would be participating again.  I definitely slowed down towards the end of the Fall cure, ran out of money, ran out of steam, and never posted any after pictures.  I had put too much on my plate for that cure (having just moved into a brand new, much larger apartment) and wanted all sorts of new furniture, window treatments, bedding, etc. and I wanted it during those 8 weeks.  Since I am not a millionare nor do I have a trust fund that really wasn’t possible.  A few months after the Fall cure I finally feel like I’m “done.”  Well, I’m ”more done” with the decorating and making things beautiful aspect that I was focusing on in the Fall.

The room I am most proud of is the bedroom.  I posted some “after” shots in my flickr set here

this is the before:

and this is an after:

I am still looking for art to go above the bed among a few other little things but I really love it right now.  I bought two cans of paint to paint in here (a really gorgeous chalky gray-blue color) but we just found out we may not be staying in this apartment longer than a year.  If thats the case I really don’t feel like painting it back in August.  I’m waiting until June when we’ll know.

Posting my “after” pictures really really motivated me for this cure!  It was really nice to give myself a pat on the back for something in my apartment.  Usually when I think of my apartment I only see things I want to change or a big to-do list.  Don’t get me wrong, I love it the way it is right now but I want it to be even better.  I really enjoyed just sitting back for once and enjoying my successes.  I have more specific goals for this time around, most of which center on organizing and getting rid of unneeded stuff.  We’re lucky to have four big closets in this apartment but they are all filled to the brim right now.  Boyfriend and I are heading off to ihop in a bit so I’ll leave my cure goals, to-do list, and actual “before” pictures for next time :)
